Fresh from the Comic-Con in San Diego is news of Assasin’s Creed II: Lineage, a series of short films that tie into the upcoming adventures of Ezio and the Italian cut-throats.
The series was announced at a panel that included Yannis Mallay, a big-wig from UbiMontreal and Corey May, the scriptwriter for AC2. Pierre Raymond was also there, which was heaps exciting. He’s the boss hog over at Hybride Technologies, the Ubisoft owned digital effects studio behind 300 and Sin City.*
*They’ve also worked on a bunch of lamer titles, including Highlander 3, Snakes on a Plane and that horrible X-Files movie. This doesn’t make them bad people, of course, as they only work there, they don’t write the mother-fucking scripts (as potty-mouthed frightener SLJ might say).
You might remember that Frederic Lefroncois, Producer on PSP title Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines telling us press types that Bloodlines is “the only game that explains the link between Assassin’s Creed and Assassin’s Creed 2.” [Note: The emboldening and underlining was done by me for dramatic effect]. Oh mon dieu, Monsieur Frederic is a very wily character, make no mistake.
Given Fred’s clever wording and the fact that we know Lineage will focus on Ezio’s granddaddy Giovani Auditore da Firenze we can be fairly certain of some filmic gap-bridging when the time comes.
The question is kids, are you excited?
